hana-update; face and body

  1. I love it! The subtle and soft light/dark contrast of the skin tones creates an excellent modeling effect. The luminescence of the skin tones is also beautifully achieved. One problem: from the photo, at least, it looks like the nostrils are not in the same perspective plane as the eyes and the mouth; it’s the only aspect that looks “forced.” But technically speaking everything else that you didn’t quite get right in the last portrait is perfect here. It has that effortless look that’s the hallmark of any art form. Not only that, but you really capture a mood. This is a much more mature painting.
