face almost finished. going to work up rest of body. need to finish this by tonight!!! and write paper... i've never had coffee the entire time i've been at bowdoin but i really think i'm going to need to start for these last couple of weeks. i'm going to pray to every god i can think of for help. hopefully one answers!

gizem- base of face

update for gizem- base of the face. i kid you not when i say it took me four hours to get her face right. now it just needs to dry so i can add the pinks and yellows and make her complexion glow.

Ok. so, i am here and i have no idea what to do next. I know it's not finished and that there are tiny unimportant details to add. but honestly i can't figure out what they are or where they should go. HELP!!!!
in the meantime i will work on "gizem" :)

Estefania is almost finished. this portrait was very challenging. the fabric is so complicated. i'm actually having a lot of trouble with the red cloth draped over her lap.... 

I'm super excited to see how everything comes out :)

Beginning of Gizem. just put up the base colors. Now to start modeling and add shows and highlights. exciting to start this one :)

Face is coming along. lots of crazy shadows. super intimidating but i'm really excited to see how this is going to come out. going to try my best!

Working on the drapery. going to work in the face and hands soon. trying to figure out what to do for background. she is sitting on a bed so i definitely need to make that clear. hmmmmm...

Gizem

Gizem is one of my best friends and we go waaaaaaay way way way back lol. she is turkish and in this portrait I wanted to show that oriental/mediterranean style. I wasn't there to put the costume together like i had done with carla, preeti, hana and estefania but she did a great job of recreating the look.

race against the clock

as a desperate attempt to get everything finished in time for the show I will be working on multiple portraits at once. i have never done this before but at this point I don't really have a choice. the second portrait I will begin working on is one of my best friend Gizem. At the moment I'm trying to get photo of my other best friend Stephanie. Also I have an exciting idea for Abby's portrait. Lots more to come. stay tuned! :)

The beginning of Estefania. Lots and lots of fabric lol. After this I'll miraculously create two or three more lol

Preeti and Estefania

Now I have to do some work on Preeti. Unfortunately I don't think i will be able to do much editing on the face but I do want to work a little on the body, the dress and background. After that I will be starting Estefania.

i decided that before i can move on i have to fix a few things. I need to rework carla's face and shawl. preeti also needs some work before i'm 100% happy with them.

the next painting I will work on is of my good friend Estefania. We chose Caravaggio as her inspiration so we will be focusing on dramatic shadows, fabric and sharp lighting.

here is the latest update on hana. working on her scarf. going to try to work on the rest of her and finish by this weekend. still have 3 more to do plus I have to rework the first two.... i need a miracle at this point.

I'm just about to start on my third painting. This is a portrait of my good friend hana. she really loved the style of dress seen in these paintings and we tried to recreate that look in her portrait.  I'll have to have a total of 6 for the show in may. wish me luck!!!
